9 Twitter accounts that you should be following

Often, I receive DMs from people asking me the following questions:

===

“Hey Kai, how do I learn SEO?”

“How do I start eCommerce SEO?”

“Where do I start?”

===

Look…

If you want to learn more about SEO then here’s what you need to do:

Stop consuming more information. Take action.

A lot of people think that they need to consume more information in order to learn something.

I’m willing to bet that you don’t need more knowledge at this moment in time.

A better use of your time would be acting on the knowledge you already possess.

We’ve talked about this before, right?

Quit scrolling Twitter. Turn off YouTube.

Start writing content & building links.

Once you have exhausted everything you currently know, then you can resume the learning process.

My biggest gripe with learning content in the SEO community, whether it be blogs, videos, or courses, is that

Most of it is useless.

There is so much information being thrown at you, and it’s difficult to digest all of it.

And the truth is, a large portion of it is just noise.

Most of it will not help you grow your brand or website – it’s just there to take up space in your mind.

As I’ve learned more about SEO, I’ve begun to tune out most of the “top” SEOs.

Why?

Well, in many cases, I disagree with them.

Other times, they give hypothetical advice based on Google guidelines that applies to just the top 1% of websites, so it’s meaningless for most people.

But to be honest with you, I find most of them to be quite annoying. I won’t name any names; feel free to use your imagination.

However, there are a few people who regularly produce high-value, actionable SEO content that can further your learning.

Here are 9 people that you MUST be following on Twitter if you want to learn more about SEO.

Keval’s stuff is very straight to the point.

Keval’s approach to eCommerce seems to be pretty similar to mine and he gets excellent results for the brands he works with.

He doesn’t overcomplicate anything in his tweets and gets straight to the point.

A good follow.

One of the most popular SEOs on Twitter.

He tweets about the state of the industry and posts some dope YouTube videos. I sat down with him for a podcast-style interview a few weeks ago, here’s the link if you want to check it out.

Generally, Charles gives pretty good SEO advice and speaks to black-hat tactics that other SEOs avoid like the plague.

Charles also has a couple of free courses that you can learn from.

When I first began to learn SEO a few years ago..

I learned a lot from Nathan’s channel. I watched his YouTube videos dozens of times to drill certain topics into my brain.

Now… I follow him on Twitter, but he’s less active there than his YouTube channel. Worth giving them both a follow though.

I also learned a lot from Brian’s YouTube channel when I started SEO.

He coined the “skyscraper technique” and has plenty of good content. His Definitive Guide to SEO Copywriting is the #1 bootcamp for anyone new to SEO writing (it’s also 100% free).

You can find it on his blog, backlinko.com, which he sold to Semrush for a pretty penny.

Flavio does SEO for startups and travel sites, and is primarily content-led.

He doesn’t pay to build most of his links which, as you know, is not what I & most other SEOs do.

Every week, he collects the 5 best SEO tweets he saw in the last seven days on Twitter and posts a thread about it every week. Again, a really good follow.

Conner popped up on my Twitter last week.

He does SaaS SEO and is also currently doing a series on free dofollow links, which is very helpful for building domain authority for your website on a low budget.

His name’s Jacky and also has a no-fluff approach to SEO.

And covers all kinds of SEO content. Jackie does parasite SEO, rank & rent, affiliate marketing, and even eCommerce. Truly a Jackie of all trades if you will.

He’s currently doing a series where he drops a YouTube video every single day on various tactics, case studies, and service reviews.

Worth a follow!

Talks about guest posting, tiered links, and web 2.0 links, and is one of the more advanced affiliate SEOs I’ve seen.

He does some PBN stuff as well. He's also another good follow.

He’s a pretty cool dude and posts great content about eCommerce SEO and…

I mean you already know me, I assume that’s why you’re here.

I left A LOT of popular names off this list.

Yeah… that was intentional.

You don’t need to follow John Muller.

You don’t need to follow Neil Patel (please, I’m begging you).

You don’t need to follow every single SEO that has thousands of followers.

Because you’re just gonna procrastinate and spend more time on Twitter trying to learn shit INSTEAD of actually building & testing ideas.

If you have any questions about these accounts, or specific SEO questions, please feel free to respond directly to this email.

Meanwhile, I've posted a ton of videos on my YouTube channel lately to help you rank your Shopify store in the #1 spot on Google.

Check it out:
