I have a confession to make
This has been keeping me up at night
I’m not as great at SEO as I make myself out to be.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve helped brands make tens & hundreds of thousands of dollars each month with my skills.
But it doesn’t always work out that way.
There’s one brand in particular that’s been bugging me, and I feel like I need to share.
We’ve been working together since the summer of 2023, and while their organic traffic has steadily risen, I haven’t been able to raise their organic revenue or main keyword positions as much as I’d like.
I’ve pulled out every stop imaginable, the strategies I cover here (and even some of the ones I don’t).
We’ve written amazing content.
We’ve consistently built 4-8 backlinks each month, and paired them up with strategic internal links.
We launched Reddit & Quora campaigns to spark engagement.
We’ve run multi-thousand dollar PR campaigns to force traction.
And still… they’re not in the #1 spot.
Why?
I haven’t given it enough of one thing…Time.
A large amount of your success in SEO will come down to the clock.
Specifically, how much time you spend in the game and how long you’re willing to wait for results.
And as much as that sucks to hear, it’s the truth.
There are thousands of other brands competing on the same SERPs as you.
And just like my dad used to say when I’d lose a close game in sports growing up…
“Hey, the other team practices too.”
Keep showing up. Keep putting in the reps, writing content and building links.
Your competitors will do the same, but one of you is going to win out eventually.
Put in more reps and be willing to outlast them — you will win.
Catch you guys on Friday.
Kai
