Death & taxes
There are two things that are certain in life: death and taxes.
I’d argue there’s actually three things: death, taxes, and Meta ads sucking.
Time & time again, frustrated media buyers and eCom operators take to Twitter to complain that Meta is down, not showing their ads, or overspending their ad dollars.
I saw a screenshot last week from a Meta rep that said: “As per checking on the impressions we can see that it is normal. $256 per 1,000 impression.”
Go home Meta, you’re drunk. $256 per 1,000 impressions is insane.
But yet, these brands stay on the paid ads hamster wheel, funneling more money into the data mining tech company.
Now, I want to be clear on something — I don’t despise Meta ads. I know they work and how valuable they are to growing your brand. I just don’t think that it’s only way to grow.
On Wednesday, I shared a few examples of how quickly SEO can work when 1) you have an established brand and 2) I work my magic.
But for newer brands, it takes a bit longer, even when I’m involved.
How long? Less than 6 months.
The fact of the matter is that it takes a few months for Google to trust new websites, no matter how great your SEO is.
You’ll publish content and build links seemingly into the void for 3-4 months, and then all of a sudden, everything starts to work, a textbook example of hockey stick growth.
Exhibit A: I started working with a brand that launched in November, and they’re already in the top 15 for their top 2 keywords, which are ultra competitive and get 5.4k and 4.4k searches/month, respectively.
They’re a matter of days away from page 1 and starting to generate revenue, just 5 months into their existence.
Exhibit B: I started working with a brand in January that launched in December, and they already rank on page 1 for their top keyword.
Oh yeah, and their average order value is $35,000. They are a few weeks away from literally printing cash.
Exhibit C: I put a brand in the #1 spot for a trending keyword in less than 2 weeks, and in the first 100 days of the brand’s existence, that keyword sent their organic search revenue into orbit, growing from $3k/mo to $216k/mo.
I’ll admit, this one is an anomaly, but it’s still worth sharing. When you put all the pieces together at the right time, you will be rewarded.
Imagine what your brand could do with an extra $200k each month.
SEO does work for new brands in the right niches, especially when we deploy our systems.
See you on Monday.
