Google loves big brands
A couple of days ago, I decided to switch over to Beehivv to increase the quality of the emails that are being sent out.
And amidst that the setting up process…
A couple of people received the welcome series email again.
And I really apologize for that.
Anyway…
Let’s kick start this email by talking about why…
Google loves branded search traffic.
In simple terms, if your brand is famous, then SEO is easier for you.
You rank for things A LOT easier compared to a brand that just launched yesterday.
In fact, several of the brands that we work with make a lot of money organically solely because they are a ‘big brand.’
Think about it this way:
When you spend a lot of money on Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and TikTok Ads, people will start to remember your brand name.
And maybe not the first time they see your brand name, or even the second, but after the third or fourth time, they’ll search for your brand in Google.
And over time, as you continue to grow & increase your paid social spend…
The more people are going to search for you on Google.
And your branded search traffic will start to compound.
Making it EASIER for you to rank for non-branded searches, which is ultimately one of the main goals of SEO.
Let me give you an example:
We work with a brand that sells women's handbags and for three years straight, they worked with a really shitty freelancer.
And when we took over… I noticed that they had a ton of brand search traffic and I thought to myself and said:
“Why the f— was the agency not doing better?”
Well, they were writing bad content and building spammy links – go figure.
And after not ranking at all for any of their money keywords, aside from branded searches, we ranked them in the #2 and #3 spots for their top two non-branded money keywords.
We’ve also 2x’d their organic traffic and increased their organic search MRR by 50% (so far).
Now…
The primary reason we’ve been able to have such early success is because of their branded search traffic.
Google knows they’re an established brand.
So…
When we started doing the things that make SEO work… they were working MUCH faster than if another women’s handbag brand would’ve tried to implement the same strategy.
Google likes to rank authoritative and trustworthy brands.
Because those brands have built a reputation over time.
People love to search for them and buy things from those brands.
Google intuitively understands that those brands are trustworthy and authoritative, more so than a brand that just launched yesterday and doesn’t have many customer reviews or a low volume of sales.
And this is one of the reasons why niche sites took a massive hit.
Solely because they didn’t have any branded search traffic and they don’t have the authority that big brands in the same SERPs have.
Final thoughts:
Spending more on paid ads does not have a direct impact on your organic rankings, revenue, and traffic. But there’s absolutely an indirect correlation between the two.
Anyway, that is all for today.
