Ins and Outs for 2024
“This year is going to be my year.”
Every year you make the exact same promise to yourself and I’m certain that this is your year but…
Have you thought about what you’ll do differently this year?
I mean sure, you’ll put in more hours this year. But have you spent enough time on the drawing board?
Do you have a game plan?
Or do you still plan on buying Fiverr links this year — if you are, you shouldn’t be on this list.
If your primary goal for 2024 is to print money, this email is for you.
These are the ins & outs of SEO in 2024:
Ins:
Better backlinks – you can’t continue to build links from low-quality sites because it’s within your budget. You think you’re saving money with <$100 links, but in fact, you’re actually setting yourself up for SEO bankruptcy. These links will do more harm than good over time, killing the brand you’ve worked so hard to build.
More diverse backlinks – stop relying just on guest posts or Forbes links or tiered links. You have zero idea what the next Google update will hold – don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. A diverse link profile is literally the best way to bulletproof your site from an update; it looks natural.
Internal links – most eCommerce brands either don’t build enough internal links or build far too many. Dial it in – create a system for structuring internal links on your site and don’t deviate from it. These are a cheat code to building topical authority and passing value across your site, and they’re 100% free & within your control, unlike backlinks.
Outs:
Obsessing over-page speed – technical SEO should be finished within the first 30-45 days of an eCommerce campaign, then best practices should keep you out of trouble forever. This will apply to 99% of all cases, of course, exceptions will exist.
More blog content – if I see one more brand self-destruct its SEO efforts with mass AI content, I will make it my personal mission to steal every last one of your customers for a brand of my own. Google is getting better, you have to too. Emphasize quality over quantity, your customers will thank you for it too.
Letting SEO agencies & freelancers lie to you – yes, SEO takes time. No, it doesn’t take forever. If you’re paying someone to do SEO for your brand, and you’re not seeing results – fire them. This is especially the case if it’s been 6+ months. They are not good at the job you are paying them to do – find someone who is better.
I said this before and I’ll say it again… investing in the right SEO team will play a key role in outranking your competitors — considering how competitive the SERPs are now — and increasing your organic MRR.
There’s a day and night difference between hiring a $300 freelancer and hiring a team that has a history of crushing the SERPs for their clients.
We grew this brand from $12,000 to $30,000 Organic MRR with SEO in just 6 months.
