An update on my niche site
The update: it sucks
Maybe I’m not as good at this SEO thing as I thought.
I live & breathe eCommerce SEO.
But the niche site game is entirely new to me.
And well, let’s just say my niche site is not growing quite how I’d hoped.
Here’s where things stand:

63 clicks and 6.94 clicks in the last 3 months.
That’s less than 1 click per day.
Miserable results.
So far.
But I remain optimistic.
For a few reasons.
One. There are only 147 pages indexed so far — this is less than 1% of all the pages I have planned out for the site.
So, still a long way to go.
Two. Of those 147 pages, 10 of them are human-edited.
Those 10 are the top 10 performing pages — this is hardly a surprise.
Once I inevitably get around to editing the major pages, the overall quality of the site should improve, and traffic should follow.
Three. I just installed LinkWhisper on my site last week.
I know, I waited way too long, but it’s there now.
I set up a few basic rules, but if you’re unfamiliar with the tool, it’s basically an automated internal linking tool for Wordpress sites.
I’ll dig deeper into the tool’s findings & capabilities in 1-2 weeks once I’ve had time to observe the effects of the initial round of internal links I’ve built.
My future plans for the site are extensive, including a Shopify API integration to create thousands of pages of song lyrics (similar to genius(.)com), automated PR/newsjacking with RSS & social media feeds, and tons more.
Catch you Friday.
Kai
